Wow, another c-section…

Disappointed to have another cesarean needed this year, making a total of 4 different girls who received c-sections since March for all different reasons! On a positive note, we have 3 happy and healthy babies that were born naturally on Saturday Aug 13th, 2016. Sadly, after the 3rd kitten was born, momma cat stopped labour completely (which can be normal for them to break for several hours). The next morning she went back into labour, strained, and we tried oxytocin injections, but no luck… so we rushed her in for an emergency c-section. Turned out the kittens were tangled together without amniotic sacs and butting heads at the cervix. We we are very saddened, disappointed, and upset that the remaining 3 kittens did not make it through the surgery despite their otherwise perfect health and condition. There can be a lot of joy and happiness in breeding these beautiful animals, but days like these can be stressful, terrible, and heartbreaking. Saturday was both a happy and sad day for us, to have 3 healthy happy babies, but we are also suffering the loss of the other 3. It can be hard on the moms, babies, and us, and of course, very costly at about $1,300 per surgery with xrays, and medication! Of all 4 cesareans, only one kitten has made it through the surgery.
The 3 healthy babies are 1 silver mackerel male, a silver classic female, and a brown classic female.

 July 17th, 2016

This big boy was born Sunday, July 17th, 2016 via c-section. He was the only kitten in his moms tummy, which allowed him lots of room to grow… Too big to be born naturally! He is a silver mackerel tabby and ond one tough little man! He has been adopted and is reserved until he can come home with his new family.
